Do you have a person in your past who helped you along your walk toward Christ? I think for most people God has sent someone along to give you that big push. If you had someone like that, they probably instantly popped into your head.
So what happens when they fail? What happens when their lives [...]

WeTheChurch.org is back up
In case you hadn’t noticed, WeTheChurch.org has been down for a while now. We had to change servers and there was a problem in the transfer that disabled our security measures. Not wanting to leave it up unsecured, I pulled it down. Then life happened and my schedule prevented me from really spending any time [...]

Jump on The Love Boat
Yesterday we launched a new site for Legacy at Jumpontheloveboat.com.
It’s for our two-week sermon series kicking off this Sunday. Starting this weekend, we’ll be posting practical tips you can use to love your spouse better. Some will be simple things you can do. Some will be grand gestures. All are designed to keep your marriage [...]

Mad Church Designer
I received an email yesterday from Chris at Zondervan, letting me know an ad we’d submitted has been chosen to market Anne Jackson’s new book Mad Church Disease.
I have to give all credit to my friend David. I’d originally seen the contest via Anne’s blog and didn’t do anything for it. After David sent me [...]

What a year it’s been
October 18th marks exactly one year living in Austin. And what a year it’s been.
In no particular order we’ve:
Had one of our biggest clients close down.
Had the same client reopen and rehire us.
Had one surgery and two expensive trips to the ER.
Created WeTheChurch.org.
Become a huge fan of Twitter.
Signed Becca up and actually found she likes [...]

WOW live
You can watch the Legacy service live here starting at 10AM central time.
I’ll also be twittering the service here.
This should be a huge service. We’re talking about some things God’s been doing that will lay the foundation for where we go from here. Tony says it will be a WOW service. Come join in.

Twitter church
Here’s a question for you.
Would the church function better as a community if everyone used Twitter?
I think it would. It’s turned into a great way to keep track of people in the church and how their days and weeks are going. Good, bad or ugly it allows us to know what’s happening and hopefully feel [...]

Money issues
Yesterday I talked with two different churches, both having money issues. Summer tends to bring the lean times as people are gone or spending on other things. The economy hasn’t helped anything.
And here’s where the church is no different than your average marriage. Take mine for example. When money becomes scarce, my marriage suffers. [...]

Tuck that shirt in
Today, Tony and I had to appear in court as character witnesses. With both of us receiving less than an hour’s notice we both showed up with what we were already wearing, jeans and a button up long-sleeve shirts (which, by the way, is standard Sunday attire).
Before the judge swore us in, Tony and I [...]

From the top down
Today I had a great lunch with Tony.
He got me really pumped up for the next three weeks at Legacy. I think this will be one of those game changing series at Legacy. This series is designed to very clearly lay out the future of Legacy and push you to make a choice about your [...]

A very cool ad campaign for Star Wars on SpikeTV.
This looks very interesting.
I love seeing churches come together.
Adobe launches Photoshop Express online.
I haven’t tried it yet, but the idea of a stripped-down, but free version of Photoshop online is interesting. Just remember, it does not make you a designer.
Twitter saving lives.
Told you it wasn’t useless.

Quick Notes 3-30-08
After last week and this weekend, I’m tired. Hopefully I’ll get some rest this week.
In between getting rest, I’m also hoping to get completely caught up before the next big project hits.
The latest issue of The Business Journal comes out next week.
Pastoring at a small church is exhilarating, frustrating and challenging all at the same [...]

Outside the doors
I’ve been reminded this last week that so much of ministry happens outside the church. That’s the important part. Church is just there to bring the family together to connect. You can’t have deep relationships with people if you see them for an hour on Sunday’s. It takes an investment of time to get to [...]

Easter Sunday
Today turned out to be a really great day. We broke a Legacy attendance record and it’s fun to see that many people fill up the building. It’s also great to see a few people stepping up and serving in various areas. It feels like things are really starting to come together.
So today was huge. [...]

Margins, or lack thereof
Or, the more blatantly shock-value oriented title, The one where Craig Groeschel rips my heart out for the world to see.
First, go read this.
And there, in that short post, is where my heart is forcibly removed from my chest. It takes everything I’ve been feeling and going through in the past few months and puts [...]
