Alyson + Brandon Engagement Session

This was an incredible shoot with Alyson and Brandon. We canceled our first shoot because it was supposed to be terrible weather. Of course, that day turned out beautiful. The backup date was last week. So naturally it rained cats and dogs and was very cold. Most people would have canceled the shoot, but we [...]

Amanda + Shane Wedding Day

We shot Amanda and Shane’s wedding at the amazing Victoria’s Black Swan Inn in San Antonio last month. It was an incredible location to work at with a staff that really knows what it’s doing. It was a lot of fun to watch Amanda and Shane get married. Their reception was never dull and the [...]

Chaney album cover shoot

Last month I shot the cover for Chaney’s upcoming album. Chose the Austin Women’s Club for our shoot because of the amazing look of the place. I had shot Dianne’s bridal photos here and they loved the feel that couch had.
The original concept was to have the photo above as the front cover and the [...]

Announcing ImageSeasons 2010

As we were looking at 2010, I had the idea of working with families several times a year to see how they change and grow. After throwing the idea out there on Twitter, I had a lot of people respond and say they’d love to do four photo shoots a year if they were reasonably [...]

ImageRecap Episode 4: Mallorie + Devin Wedding

Last night I recorded this for Mallorie and Devin’s wedding. I chose this one because I shot it alone and I wanted to demonstrate how I light when I’m by myself and need to move around the entire room. I think I’ll bring Becca in on the next wedding show I do since she usually [...]

Image Recap Episode 3: Mallorie + Aaron Engagement

Today I wanted to get into how our style has evolved and the choice I made between shooting with off-camera flash versus available light. Both types of shooting have advantages and disadvantages. I’ve seen some flat-out amazing photographers who shoot nothing but available light but that wasn’t the direction we decided to go and I [...]

ImageRecap Episode 2: Roger for Senate

On today’s episode I focus on a shoot we did for Roger Williams. This was a slightly larger shoot than we usually do, but I think preproduction saved our lives. We ended up doing 14 setups in under three hours. The only way we managed that was with tons of planning.
I seem to be landing [...]

ImageRecap Episode 1: Rachel’s Trash the Dress

Click the image above to view the video.
I’m hoping other photographers can give me some feedback on if things like this are helpful or not. Like most things I’ve ever done, I come up with an idea I would have loved to see from others and thought I’d try it myself. The idea behind these [...]

1944 Close Combat Demonstration

Today we had an amazing time with the kids at the 1944 Close Combat Demonstration put on by the volunteers at the Texas Military Forces Museum. I’ve always been interested in World War II and read everything I can on it. To see the weapons and vehicles of the war in action was incredible. They [...]

Roger for Senate

These are a few favorites from this last weekend’s shoot with Roger Williams and his family. They opened their beautiful home to us to shoot in.
This turned into a very large project. We ended up doing 14 different setups in less than three hours. It was a crazy pace, but having four great subjects and [...]

Rachel’s Trash-the-Dress Session

I’ve been trying for three years to find a bride willing to use and abuse her dress after the wedding. Finally Rachel stepped up to the plate and hit it out of the park. We started at the Stephenville City Park for a few. She decided to give the slide a shot and went right [...]

Two beautiful girls…and Dr. Doug

I had a great time shooting with Dr. Doug and his awesome family (and pets) on Thursday. We set up a backdrop and rocked the white seamless for this one. We laughed at Jane the entire time. It’s always fun shooting such expressive babies.

And this outtake just makes me laugh. Somehow it seems very fitting. [...]

Scheduling for the future

As we’ve started looking to the future of our business, I’ve been thinking a lot about my schedule. Right now I’m working about seven days a week and usually just getting done what is in front of me that must immediately be done. This doesn’t leave a lot of time to work on growing the [...]

Jennifer + John Wedding Day

Here’s a quick preview of last Saturday’s wedding with Jennifer and John. The ceremony and reception were both at Texas Old Town which was an amazing venue to shoot at. The day turned out perfect, between a UT win (which everyone at the wedding was paying attention to) and great weather.

10-25-09 iPhone photo

Matt Chandler says to find things that stir your affections for God. For me, it’s clouds. I know that sounds goofy, but there’s something about clouds like this that leave me in awe of our creator. The idea that the maker of something so amazing loves me is comforting and humbling.
Taken with the iPhone using [...]
